Speaking to the audience, he said: “I had that [superbug] one month all Christmas.

“I’ve never had anything like this before. In fact, I’m starting to wonder if there’s a new strain of Covid.

“I took a test every week, it was always negative, but I can’t help but think I’ve had it.

It comes after Richard appeared every inch the doting grandfather as his family enjoyed a Boxing Day lunch together.

Richard’s daughter Chloe, 35, shared a number of snaps from the outing, including one of her TV star dad entertaining their baby daughter Bodhi as she sat at the dining table.

In the adorable clip, Richard held Bodhi in his hands and made playful facial expressions while the little girl grabbed his face.

Elsewhere, Chloe, who wore a black cardigan with gold detailing, later sat with her daughter on her lap in another sweet shot.

Dressed in a festive outfit, Bodhi also carried a new treat in the form of a pair of lips during the Christmas lunch.

Chloe and James welcomed their first child together earlier this year.

Chloe, who was born via emergency c-section in August, was living with her parents at the time due to renovations in her own house.

Speaking on Loose Women, Chloe said of her initial doubts about motherhood: “For a long time I wasn’t sure if I wanted children and I think a lot of women don’t necessarily talk about it.

“In the third trimester. I was really nervous, I hope I made the right decision and I thought that would go away. It didn’t, and I was really nervous about it.

“As soon as I saw her, I fell madly in love and I was like, ‘This is the best thing I’ve ever done!'”
