The Patriots’ Matt Patricia is still in charge of the future, with Joe Judge returning in a different role: Sources – The Athletic

Former Giants coach Joe Judge will be back on the New England Patriots coaching staff next season, but he won’t be the team’s quarterback coach. There are rumors that not only did Judge clashed with Jones, but he wasn’t very popular in the Patriot dressing room.

As Patricia came under fire as the face of the crime from the outside, Judge increasingly drew criticism from within. Belichick would beat him up in practice, and it wasn’t uncommon for Judge and Jones to exchange obscene outbursts. Jones’ confidence in his coaching position was virtually non-existent.

“Mac didn’t like him,” said a source. “At all.”

“[Judge] would speak extra loud in meetings and try to project like he’s the guy,” another source said. “And I think that kind of rubbed people the wrong way.”

“A lot of people were frustrated [Judge]’ added a third.

Why Daniel Jones has ‘leverage’ as experts predict Giants contract | New York Post

“Church [Cousins] signed a one-year extension for $35 million, and I’d say, ‘I just beat that guy. I have to go beyond that,'” said Joel Corry, CBSsports.com contracts expert and former agent. “The playoffs for Jones were one step forward, one step back. He needs to look at the rest of the market and how other teams will see him. You might be exaggerating your hand by saying, “I’ll take my chances in the free hand if you don’t mark me as a franchise.” ”

“Regardless of other teams’ interest, Jones still has full leverage,” said the second manager, “because what are their others [quarterback] options?”

Jason Kelce disapproved of his teammate’s trash talk against Giants

Kelce had to block Dexter Lawrence and was unenthusiastic about teammate Brandon Graham, who upset Lawrence before the game.

“I wasn’t happy about that,” Kelce told reporters. “I said to him right after, ‘Hey man, you’re talking to the (offensive) tackle. I’ll take care of this guy. I don’t need it cranked up any more than it already is.”
