Giant fire in the Gironde: Germany, Poland, Romania, Italy … European solidarity is organized

While Landes and Gironde firefighters continue to face “extreme climatic conditions” in their fight against the blaze this Thursday and the flames are multiplying in France, European reinforcements arrived this Thursday evening.

Poland had announced that it would send 146 firefighters to fight the fires in the south, which Elysee said should arrive on Friday afternoon. Germany sent 64 firefighters and 24 vehicles for Thursday evening.

The European Commission also announced Thursday the dispatch of four planes from the European Union’s fleet from Greece and Sweden to France.

According to Élysée, Emmanuel Macron remains “very mobilized and closely following the location of the fires”. He also tweeted, referring to the victims of the disaster: “Save all lives, save all that can be saved, then rebuild: none will be forgotten.” »
