German plane flying over Baltic Sea warned Russia

Russia’s military is said to have escorted a German reconnaissance plane out of Russian airspace over the Baltic Sea. The Ministry of Defense in Moscow announced today that a fighter jet has taken off to accompany a German Lockheed P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft.

The Bundeswehr machine shut down before reaching Russian airspace. Then the Su-27 jet fighter returned to the base airport.

“State Border Violation Prevented”

“A violation of the Russian state border has been avoided,” the ministry stressed. Tensions in the airspace over the Baltic Sea between NATO forces and Russia have been rising since Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine began in February last year.

With the enclave of Kaliningrad, Moscow has a well-developed military outpost in the region. The Russian Baltic Sea Fleet also has its home there.
