Georgia Toffolo has revealed that she “lived in fear” that people would find out how bad her acne was at the height of her breakouts when she was younger.

The former Made In Chelsea favourite, 28, told her ITV documentary In Search Of Perfect Skin how she had a “terribly low opinion of herself” at the time.

The reality TV star added that she would get up very early every morning to have enough time to cover herself in layers of makeup.

She said on the show: “I had such a horribly low opinion of myself. It was like hate, anger, why why did you do that?

“Looking back on that time, I’m pretty upset because I don’t really talk about it now.”

“I always assumed that acne would go away with age. It didn’t, and things got even more difficult when I found fame on a reality TV show.

“I lived in such fear that someone would find out how bad it was. I got up three hours earlier – layers, powder, more concealer, constantly faking the confidence I didn’t have in me.

It comes after Georgia opened up in November about her “all-consuming” battle with acne, which began as a teenager during an appearance on Lorraine.

The star admitted she went to “a great effort” to hide her skin and described the impact it had on her confidence.

Describing the impact the problem has caused, Georgia said, “I don’t think my acne would have given me the confidence to pursue my career earlier.”

Speaking on the subject on the morning show, Georgia – aka Toff – said: “Acne starts when you’re very young, in your formative years. Mine started when I was 13, I’ve been open about it and have gone to great lengths to hide it.

Explaining how she would apply layers of makeup to cover her blotchy and scarred skin, Georgia admitted, “I’ve been hiding behind it for so long.”

Lorraine told Georgia she had no idea she struggled with acne, and Georgia said, “It’s wonderful not to hear about me and acne together. When you suffer from that, your acne is all consuming.”

Georgia also pointed to the psychological effects of the medications prescribed to treat acne.

She said: “What the documentary shows is when the drugs are prescribed, they’re really tough and there’s some psychological impact.” [when you take medication for acne].

She also spoke to a mother whose teenager killed herself while taking the medication, saying: “It makes me very emotional to talk about it now.”

Alongside a clip from the show on launch day, Georgia said: “Let’s bare some skin, it’s time to stop hiding and be honest with what we’re going through.

“I can’t wait for you to see what I’ve been working on for so long!”

The clip revealed how Georgia’s acne journey started with “a few teenage spots” before morphing into “problematic severe acne.”

Georgia heartbreakingly revealed her feelings for herself, including “hate” and “anger.”

The reality personality also shared a montage of clips of her skin in various stages, stressing the importance of being “vulnerable”.
