During Question Time, which followed the presentation of the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) candidate in the Laval-des-Rapides race, Mr Legault raised the issue of fuel prices.

The PCQ chairman believes that gasoline taxes should be reduced, an idea not shared by François Legault.

To counteract inflation and the rise in the price of gasoline, the CAQ boss gives money back to the taxpayers first and foremost.

“If some propose lowering fuel taxes, there is a real risk that the oil companies will pick up the difference, and that’s really not what we want,” said François Legault.

“And we don’t want to be able to subsidize a product whose consumption we want to reduce in the coming years, also for environmental reasons,” he added.
