FTX founder says there was a security incident at home

CNN —

Lawyers for disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried have asked the judge in his fraud case to keep the names of two people who co-signed his $250 million bond secret, because he believes his family is actually a threat would.

Bankman-Fried’s attorney said there was a “security incident” at his parents’ home that saw the former FTX CEO released from custody.

Bankman-Fried’s attorneys described the incident in a letter to Judge Lewis Kaplan, who opposed requests by nearly a dozen media organizations to disclose the identities of the co-signers.

“Recently, the Bankman-Frieds had a security incident at their home when a black car drove into the metal barricade that had been erected in front of their home. Three men got out of the car. When confronted by the security guard on duty, the men said something along the lines of, “They won’t be able to keep us out.” The men got back in the car and quickly drove away before the security guard could see the license plate,” they wrote.

Bankman-Fried’s parents — Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried — are both law professors at Stanford University. A judge released Bankman-Fried on $250 million bail and required him to wear an electronic surveillance bracelet and be under house arrest at his parents’ home in Palo Alto, California.
