This new regulation also pleases the Order of Veterinary Physicians of Quebec.

“I think we’ve gone somewhere else in terms of animal welfare,” says Dr. Gaston Rioux, President of the Order of Veterinarians of Quebec, in an interview with LCN.

Here are the five operations that can no longer be performed on our trusty companions.

1. Tail dock (tail dock)

While it was common for certain dog breeds such as Dobermans, Boxers, Schnauzers, Spaniels, Rottweilers and Pointers to dock their tails, this will no longer be possible.

5. Severing the tendons (tenectomy or digital tenotomy)

This operation, which cuts the tendon under each finger, is often used as an alternative to declawing cats and is also prohibited.
