FPF asks to change the precautionary measure for the 8

the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) called on the Seventh Civil Court of the Lima Supreme Court to modify the precautionary measure issued a few weeks ago to suspend the effects of all contracts signed between League 1 clubs and Consorcio Fútbol Perú (GolPerú). In the document submitted to the judicial authority, the national football regulator asked for the text of the judgment to be expanded to clarify its scope in relation to the tournament’s broadcasting rights.

“It is imperative that your office protect our amendment and clarify that the precautionary measure applies only to those who intend to have the FPF’s broadcasting rights without prior approval,” the FPF’s statement said. This request comes after eight local championship teams reiterated their position not to participate this season until the injunction is lifted.

Last Monday, January 16, before the suspension of the first date of the inaugural tournament by order of the IPD, representatives of the clubs Alianza Lima, Universitario, Sport Boys, Deportivo Municipal, FBC Melgar, Cienciano, Cusco FC and Deportivo Binacional offered a press conference, in which they made their position clear.

What is the FPF asking to change the precautionary measure?

According to FPF’s request, the interim measure must now contain the following additional text: “The suspension of legal acts ordered by the interim measure always takes place if the parties do not have the express authorization or consent of the FPF. In the event that the federal government has given the appropriate authorization and/or approval, the legal acts carried out are fully effective and valid.

The institution based its request on the alleged “disinformation of public opinion” by the co-defendants (Peru Football Consortium) regarding the 2023 Premier League matches, which would or would not be televised.

With this change, the FPF wants to make it clear that clubs can broadcast their matches and that any inconvenience or penalty will be resolved in other ways.

When does League 1 start in 2023?

After postponing the opening day of the competition scheduled for this Saturday January 21st, the organization of League 1 confirmed that the championship will now start this Friday January 27th with date 2. The first game is Deportivo Binacional vs. ADT.
