247 The cover of the printed edition of Folha de S. Paulo this Thursday (19) caused controversy on social networks. “The multiple exposure photo shows Lula adjusting his tie and broken glass during an attack,” reads the caption, courtesy of photojournalist Gabriela Biló.

The article illustrated by the image is titled “In Lula’s Focus, the Military Presence in the Planalto Is RecordBreaking”.

“Technique of ‘multiple exposure of images’, on the cover of Folha. A euphemism in posttruth times to define the manipulation of information. This isn’t journalism. This is a perverse falsification of reality. Extremely dangerous in this case, given the seriousness of the current situation in the country,” protested writer Lira Neto on Twitter.

For user Holanda Karla, the photo suggests “a shot in Lula’s chest”. On the other hand, “more responsibility is necessary”: “It’s sad when journalism falters”.

The author of the photo, Gabriela Biló, defended the image: “In the photo there are those who see death, there are those who see resistance, just a crack, there are those who see a smile behind it, Lula who fixed his tie. I won’t say what you need to see. Photojournalism is not made to please. My photos are the mirror of my appearance. This is how I see the world. You can have your look, disagree with mine, that’s fine, the world is plural.”
