Florence Pugh Reveals What Her Grandma Said About Her Nipple-Free Dress

Florence Pugh’s grandmother wasn’t among the people who took issue with her nippleless dress last month.

The ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ actress faced sexist backlash after wearing a sheer pink tulle dress by Valentino to the designer’s haute couture show in Rome. Pugh opened up about the hate she received at the time in an Instagram post, wondering why these “vulgar” strangers were so annoyed by the size of her boobs.

“I went to my grandmother and she said, ‘Then what’s with your nipples?’ Pugh told the outlet before adding that she showed her grandmother the photos.

“She gasped,” Pugh said. “Because the dress was so beautiful.”

Pugh is grateful to have been raised in a household of “very strong, powerful, curvy women,” she said in an Instagram post in July.

“We were raised to find strength in the folds of our bodies. To be loud, to feel good. It’s always been my mission in this industry to say ‘fuck it and fuck that’ if anyone expects my body to morph into an opinion about what’s hot or sexually attractive,” she added.

And it seems that she didn’t take the negative comments to heart at all.

“I lived in my body for a long time. I’m fully aware of my breast size and not afraid of it,” she wrote in the post. “More worrying is… why are you so scared of boobs? Small? Big? Left? Right? only one? Maybe none? What. Is. So terrible.”
