A heavy hailstorm is on its way to Austria for the holiday! Experts have already warned of heavy rains and risk of flooding.

The Austrian Severe Weather Center has now issued a severe weather alert for several federal states – Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Salzburg, Upper Austria, Lower Austria, Carinthia and Styria are affected. Only for the federal capital Vienna and Burgenland there is still no notice. The sun is shining, especially in the east of the country, and temperatures are rising to over 30 degrees.

Of Thursday brings mixed climate. Clouds will predominate in the west and rain showers will fall on Vorarlberg from late morning. In the afternoon there will be more showers and thunderstorms in East Tyrol and Upper Carinthia, along with heavy thunderstorms along the Northern Alps. In the eastern half, on the other hand, the sun shines brightly with only harmless clouds. The wind is partly strong from the south, in the Alps there is a foehn. In the evening, strong westerly winds will pick up in Upper Austria.
