First G20 Health Working Group Meeting in India

Opening the first meeting of the G20 Health Task Force under India’s G20 Presidency in Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital of Kerala, she noted that preventing, preparing for and responding to a pandemic requires a range of cross-sectoral and coordinated efforts.

The three-day meeting will focus on discussions on prevention, preparedness and response to health emergencies, strengthening collaboration in the pharmaceutical sector and digital health innovations to contribute to universal health coverage.

During India’s G20 presidency, four Health Task Force meetings and one Health Ministers’ meeting will be held in various cities across the country, including Gandhinagar in Gujarat state, Hyderabad in Telangana, Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala and Goa. At the head of the bloc of the world’s major economies, New Delhi’s priorities include preparing for, preventing and responding to health emergencies and enhancing cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector.
