“He would have suffered second-degree burns, particularly on his foot, in addition to smoke inhalation,” explains Stéphane Gaumond, fire service chief.

The little girl was transported to the Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis, but there is no fear for her life. No one else was injured in this case.

No arrests

The incendiary object thrown into the house quickly led to the outbreak of a fire, which required an initial alarm. However, the flames were brought under control in a short time and the situation was said to be under control in less than 30 minutes.

“The situation is obviously considered arson, investigators are on the scene to try to understand the circumstances of the incident,” explains the spokesman for the Service de Police de la Ville de Lévis (SPVL), Jean-Sébastien Levan.

A search was conducted in the area but no suspects have been arrested in this case so far. The reasons that prompted one or more individuals to commit this offense remain unclear.

Concerned Neighbors

The event caused a real stir in the neighborhood. If the sector is already known for “doing a little brew,” the neighborhood had become fairly peaceful a few years ago.

“It’s worrying, it could easily have been us. The window of our rooms is right next to it. We’re going to refurbish the shelter to get away from that,” says Shyana Douillard, who moved into the block just under a month ago.

“I must have lived here for 25 years and I’ve never seen that! What scares me is knowing that this lunatic is still running,” says Claudine Leblanc, who lives above the burned-down house.
