Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin takes a drug test after a party

After videos of her dancing with a pop star went viral, Finland’s prime minister said she underwent a drug test.

Sanna Marin, 36, told a news conference that she expects the results of the screening to be released next week, the BBC reported. Finnish politicians had called for her to be tested for narcotics after the video was leaked.

However, Marin has repeatedly said that she has never used drugs.

“I haven’t done anything illegal,” she told reporters in Helsinki on Friday.

“Even in my teenage years, I didn’t do any drugs,” Marin said. She explained that she took the drug test because of the controversy surrounding the videos, but felt the outcry was unfair.

But reporters grilled Marin, who is married and has been Finland’s prime minister since December 2019, and asked if she could make key government decisions if something happened during her party.

“I don’t remember a single time that there was a sudden situation to go to the State Council Palace in the middle of the night,” she said.

“I think my performance was really good. There were no known meetings on the days I partied.”

Marin said she knew she was being filmed dancing, but didn’t know the footage would be released.
