Finnish prime minister is criticized after video of the party

Finnish MP Mikko Kärnä of Marin’s coalition partner asked the prime minister to take a drug test and make the results public. “People can expect the same from their prime minister,” he tweeted.

At a news conference Thursday morning, Marin denied using drugs: “I danced, I sang, I celebrated, I did cool things,” the prime minister said. Marin added that she doesn’t drink much. She was dismayed that the private videos were made public.

popularity surge?

Marin isn’t just criticized online: some defend her behavior. “If you work hard, you can party hard too,” writes one user. Others see a potential rise in popularity for the 36-year-old.

It wasn’t the first allegations Marin was confronted with: in December 2021, she was pressured because she was filmed leaving shortly after a government colleague tested positive for coronavirus.
