The visiting side scored twice in under three minutes in the third period through Nicolas Guay and Cedric Montminy.

The latter, the team’s top scorer with 25 points, including three during the game, quickly moved towards the net and fired a shot before touching goalkeeper Jake Theut. The referees initially disallowed the goal before accepting it after a video review.

For his part, Guay betrayed the goalkeeper’s vigilance a few minutes later with a good overman shot.

Quebec’s Xavier Parent attempted a comeback for the Thunder. At the end of the third period he reduced the lead to two goals, but it wasn’t enough to come back. Teammate Yanick Turcotte added his two cents by defeating masked man Joe Vrbetic early in the same period.

Alex Breton also eclipsed the scorers list after 22 seconds in the second period.

Brett Stapley put the Lions ahead thanks to the Thunder’s defensive generosity. He found himself in a two-on-one situation with Guay and scored his fourth goal of the season.

With this victory, Marc-André Bergeron’s team regained fifth place in the northern section with 30 points, level on points with their opponents.

The Lions’ next game is Saturday against the Thunder.
