O The FBI executed a search and seizure warrant at one of Donald Trump’s properties Monday night (8).former President of the United States.

The house, Trump himself told CNN, is in MaraLago, Palm Beach, Florida. He was not in the house at the time of the crime.

Trump declined to report why the FBI agents were in MaraLago, but the former president said the operation was unannounced and “they even broke into my safe.”

“My beautiful home, MarALago, in Palm Beach, Fla. is currently under siege, raid and occupation by a large group of FBI agents,” he said in a statement.

“Having worked and cooperated with appropriate government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was neither necessary nor appropriate,” Trump said in a statement.

The MarALago residence “is currently under siege, raid and occupation by a large group of FBI agents,” he said. “They even broke into my safe,” he added.

The Justice Department declined to comment on the operation. The FBI’s Miami field office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

CNN reported that Trump was not at the property at the time of the burglary and that the FBI had a search warrant to enter the facility.

Trump, who has made his Palm Beach clubhouse his home since leaving the White House in January 2021, typically spends summers at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, since MaraLago typically closes for the summer in May .

The US Department of Justice has opened an investigation into Trump’s removal from official White House records of the President of the White House for his Florida estate, a source familiar with the matter said in April.

The probe comes after the US National Archives and Records Administration informed Congress in February that it had recovered about 15 boxes of White House documents from Trump’s Florida home, some of which contained classified material.

The then House Oversight Committee announced it was expanding its investigation into Trump’s actions and asked the archives to provide additional information. Trump has already confirmed that he agreed to return certain records to the archive, calling it “a common and routine process.”
