Neil Charran Mahadeo met a horrific end on February 13 after a drunken night at his condo.

It was 5:50 a.m. when police were called to the base of the imposing condominium tower on West Saint-Antoine Street. A few meters from the main entrance they discovered the body of the 31-year-old in a desolate condition. This one had just accidentally fallen from 34 floors. It was an apparent death and no transport to the hospital was necessary.

“[Il] was trying to impress a friend by doing push-ups in front of the balcony railing of his apartment when he lost his footing and fell into space,” according to Me Donald Nicole, the coroner in charge of the case.

The Montreal native had been partying with friends at his home in the hours leading up to his death. Toxicology analyzes carried out at the Forensic Science and Forensic Medicine Laboratory revealed that Mr. Mahadeo had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal driving alcohol limit. Traces of amphetamines were also found.

During the party, the 30-year-old performed the daring maneuver a number of times to impress his friends, according to the coroner. He had no diagnosed illness, was not taking any prescription medication, and had not had any suicidal thoughts prior to the accident. In addition, the police investigation revealed that no signs of third-party intervention were found at the scene.

“All the elements collected show that Mr Mahadeo’s death was the result of a reckless act while he was intoxicated with alcohol,” added Coroner Nicole.
