Major League Baseball played its much-anticipated Field of Dreams game Thursday in tiny Dyersville, Iowa, as the Chicago Cubs took on the Cincinnati Reds.
The game has become a fan favorite after MLB made the decision to host an on-field game inspired by the popular film Field of Dreams, which was released in 1989.
Both teams wore retro uniforms for the game, with players exiting the cornfield to enter the field before the first pitch.
The players were also clearly enthusiastic about the occasion, as many were seen posing for photos during the warm-up and pre-match celebrations at the same mansion as the fans.

One of the most iconic parts of the movie is when legendary players finally leave the cornfields that lie behind the outfield.
Not only fans love to watch this, but gamers who are familiar with the movie love to recreate this scene and imagine themselves as one of those players from the famous film.
MLB used this aspect strategically and made it the annual introduction to the game.

Tickets are also very hard to come by as the Dyersville venue capacity is only 8,000 with the initial first refusal going to local residents.
Some tickets resold earlier this week for a whopping $4,582 apiece, well above the average ticket price for a Cubs-Reds matchup.
In the game itself, the Cubs got off to an impressive start, taking a 3-0 lead in the first inning with no response from the Reds.
