Devoted fans of The Witcher have gone into overdrive this week after a recent interview with Henry Cavill resurfaced just days before he announced he was leaving the hit Netflix show.

Henry was a guest on the Happy Sad Confused podcast and spoke about right and wrong, which some fans believe has to do with The Witcher.

“It’s all about belief. If you believe what you’re doing is the right thing to do, you can keep doing it,” Henry said just days before the shock announcement.

“It’s also important to know that when you realize you’re doing the wrong thing, you stop doing the wrong thing.”

He added, “You don’t just carry on like this because it leads down a dark path.”

One fan said they could see “tears in his eyes” as he spoke during the interview, while others said he made the comment in reference to The Witcher, where he played the role of Geralt of Rivia.

“You can almost see the tears in his eyes. He knows we’ll know he left The Witcher after three days,” one fan commented under the recorded chat on YouTube.

Another added: “I have a feeling Henry has The Witcher in mind. He did the right thing in leaving The Witcher. The showrunner turned out to be a very incompetent person, making mistake after mistake and enforcing her own agenda… And the writers – shame on you. The only good thing is that Henry’s Witcher has won the hearts of many new fans.’

Another said: “He was certainly talking about The Witcher and you can tell by the tone of his voice how it touched him personally and how seriously he said it. It’s clear that continuing to work with The Witcher crew went against his values as an actor and as a fan of The Witcher series.”

The announcement comes ahead of the third season airing, which will show Henry’s final scenes before handing over to Liam for the following season.

But fans had a lot to say, with one even suggesting, “They should just cancel the whole show.”

“I can’t believe Henry Cavill won’t be the witcher anymore,” said another.

“In my place, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will assume the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest characters in literature, I pass the torch with reverence for the time I’ve spent impersonating Geralt and with enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most intriguing and nuanced man.

“Liam good sir there is such wonderful depth to this character, have fun diving in and see what you can find.”

“Henry Cavill was an incredible Geralt and I am honored that he is handing me the reins and allowing me to pick up the Blades of the White Wolf for the next chapter of his adventure.

“Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m really excited to step into the world of The Witcher,” he concluded.
