Max Verstappen (Red Bull), leader of the Formula 1 championship, won the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday, the 13th of 22 rounds of the season, and extended the gap to his pursuer Charles Leclerc, who only finished sixth in the race.

The Dutchman came back in tenth place and won ahead of the Mercedes of Britain’s Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, who started from pole position for the first time. Under a threatening sky, Monegasque Leclerc (Ferrari), victim of a strategic error involving his tires, now lies 80 points behind Verstappen in the championship.
Quebec’s Lance Stroll finished 11th.
