Actor Ezra Miller returned to the public eye on Sunday in a Super Bowl trailer for her upcoming film The Flash, a $200 million DC Comics production that came into question during the actor’s recent personal troubles.
Miller, who identifies as non-binary and uses she/them pronouns, narrowly escaped jail last month after accepting a plea deal related to a burglary at a home in southern Vermont last May.
The 30-year-old agreed to a suspended sentence of 89 to 90 days in prison for the offense of “unlawful trespassing,” according to a pleading filed in Vermont Superior Court.
Miller was also fined $500 plus a $192 surcharge and placed on probation for one year. Two other charges were dropped, including a charge of burglary, which could have been punished with a 25-year prison sentence.
The trailer for The Flash — a $7 million Super Bowl ad buy — features the likely definitive inclusion of Ben Affleck as Batman and Michael Keaton’s return as the Caped Crusader.

Vermont police charged Miller with criminally breaking into an unoccupied home on May 1, with the actor claiming they were at the home looking for ingredients for a recipe for their mother.
Miller was accused of taking bottles of gin, vodka and rum from her neighbor’s pantry around 5pm that day.
They told their attorney Friday that they were grateful for the love and support they had received.
“Ezra Miller pleaded guilty in the Vermont Superior Court this morning and accepted the covenants imposed by the court,” Miller’s attorney, Lisa Shelkrot, said on behalf of the embattled actor.
‘Ezra would like to thank the court and community for their trust and patience during this process.
“They wish to once again acknowledge the love and support they have received from their family and friends, who continue to be an important presence in their ongoing mental health.”

Miller, who asked that the court address her as Mx. Miller, entered the courtroom with their attorney at the start of the hearing.
They wore a black suit jacket over a black shirt and black crew-neck trousers and a black face mask with long hair pulled back, as seen in videos of the proceedings on Twitter.
The prosecutor said in court on Friday that the decision protects his client’s privacy without having to go to court.
It also ensures compliance with conditions that would protect the victim and allows the accused to continue their engagement in mental health treatment.
“I think they strike the balance between your rehabilitation and continuing to make sure you’re a sane citizen and a punitive factor here, too,” Judge Kerry Ann McDonald-Cady said of the terms of the contract.
“So I think that’s a fair judgment and in the interests of justice.”

She added that the conditions are about “mental health, substance-free living” and no contact with the neighbor.
As part of the plea agreement, Miller also agreed not to consume alcohol if it interferes with her occupation or interactions with others, and the actor must continue his rehabilitation efforts related to his mental health treatment.
McDonald-Cady then went through the state’s standard parole requirements, including the requirement to notify her parole officer of changes in employment or address, and required Miller to report for parole before 3 p.m. Friday.
The 30-year-old Flash actor previously pleaded not guilty to trespassing, two charges of breaking into an unoccupied apartment and allegedly breaking into a Vermont home and stealing three bottles of alcohol.

Vermont State Police said in a statement at the time they were briefed on “a burglary complaint at an apartment building on County Road in the town of Stamford, Vermont.
“Initial findings indicated that several bottles of alcohol were stolen from the home while the homeowners were absent,” the statement continued.
“As a result of an investigation that included surveillance video and testimony, probable cause was found to charge Ezra M. Miller with the felony of breaking into an unoccupied home.”
Miller was previously arrested in Hawaii for assaulting a woman
They were arrested in August and entered their now-defunct plea of not guilty in October when a judge ordered them to stay away from neighbor Isaac Winokur – the house from which they stole the bottles, as well as neighbor Aiden Early .
The actor only spoke to confirm that they understood the terms of their bail.
It was just the actor’s final run-in with the law.
They had also been accused of grooming after the parents of Tokota Iron Eyes, a Native American activist, 18, filed a protective order against the actor.
Her parents accused Miller of grooming her child and other inappropriate behavior with her when she was a minor from the age of 12 – which Tokota denied.
A Massachusetts mother was granted a temporary protection order against Miller in June on behalf of the woman’s 12-year-old child.
It was granted after the judge found the child faced a “substantial likelihood of imminent threat of molestation”.

A mother of three and her young children have also moved into Miller’s Vermont farmhouse, which is said to be filled with guns and large quantities of marijuana.
The children’s father claims the 25-year-old mother left her island home in Hawaii with Miller in April, taking the children with her without his consent.
Video from April provided to Rolling Stone reportedly showed at least eight assault weapons, rifles and handguns lying around the living room.
They are also said to have created a secret harem out of their Vermont ranch – a de facto convent – in which the star, as a figure of Jesus, is said to have held its own to a group of women.
Miller was also arrested twice in Hawaii in March last year – charged with disorderly conduct and second-degree assault.
They were accused of yelling and verbally abusing customers as they sang karaoke at a bar in Hilo and stealing the microphone from a 23-year-old woman.
At a court hearing about the incident, they pleaded no wrongdoing challenge and paid a $500 fine.

In April, a month later that year, the star was accused of throwing a chair at a 26-year-old woman and hitting her at a private party in Pahoa.
A video of Miller appearing to choke a woman at a bar in Reykjavik, Iceland, also surfaced in April 2020 but did not lead to any charges.
In August, Miller announced they were seeking treatment for “complex mental health issues” after Hollywood bosses were forced to reconsider their future in the DC film universe.
They said in a statement: “Having recently gone through a period of intense crisis, I now understand that I suffer from complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment.”
“I would like to apologize to anyone I have alarmed and upset with my behavior in the past. I am committed to doing the work necessary to return me to a healthy, safe and productive phase in my life.’

While sharing the upcoming roster for the “new DC,” Gunn described the upcoming $200 million movie starring the non-binary actor as “probably one of the greatest superhero movies of all time,” leading many to question whether Miller will return.
The DC tablet, titled Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters, will officially begin with Superman Legacy on July 11, 2025, after The Flash’s universe has been “reset”.
Studio executives, who took over DC in October, have remained largely secretive about Miller’s future at the studio overall, but applauded the actor for his focus on his mental health.
However, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Gunn said that “nothing prohibits” previously cast actors from reprising their roles in the new universe.
Safran said that after the series of criminal incidents Miller was involved in, their only focus is on the actor’s recovery.
‘Ezra is fully committed to her recovery. We fully support the journey they are on right now,” Safran said.
