The names of the three victims of the explosion that occurred last week in Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan in Lanaudière are now known.

They are Céline Pilon, 65 years old from Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan, France Desrosiers, 65 years old from Epiphany and Christophe Paradis, 26 years old from Mascouche.

The Sûreté du Québec stated that “expertise on the scene of the event is still pending for a few days”.

The Major Crimes Investigations Division is still trying to figure out what happened on the morning of January 12 at the Propane Lafortune premises.

In a press release published on Thursday afternoon, the mayor of Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan, Sébastien Marcil, recalled that the tragedy “shook everyone’s hearts and souls [la] community”.

“Since then, three questions have lingered and awaited answers: who, why and how? The confirmation of the identities of three missing persons today responds to one of them and allows us to begin the grieving, a phase that is as normal as necessary seven days after the events. On behalf of the municipal council and all the citizens of Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan, I send our sincere condolences and our full solidarity to the families affected. Now is the time to give them all the space to mourn with respect and dignity,” he said.
