EU builds stockpiles to protect against nuclear threats

The EU is stockpiling Finland to combat chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats. As announced by the European Commission, 242 million euros have been released for this today. The money will be used, for example, to buy vaccines, antidotes, medical products and meters. In case of emergency, relief supplies would be delivered from Finland to the affected EU and partner countries.

“Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine made it necessary to strengthen the EU’s preparedness,” said EU Commissioner Janez Lenarcic. Reserves would provide an important safety net in the future, allowing for a quick and coordinated response.
