Hannah Gutierrez Reed, the gunsmith in the fatal shooting in the film “Rust,” is found guilty of involuntary manslaughter

New Mexico prosecutors have convicted Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the 24-year-old who served as a gun supervisor in the fatal shooting that left a cameraman dead when Alec Baldwin fired the gun during an on-set rehearsal of a Western film hand was shot.

Gutierrez-Reed was charged with involuntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence. Prosecutors alleged during the two-week trial that Gutierrez-Reed unknowingly brought live ammunition to the set of “Rust,” violating the industry's basic gun safety guidelines.

The manslaughter charge against Gutierrez-Reed carries a maximum penalty of 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine. Immediately after the verdict was announced, officials ordered the defendant's detention after the verdict was read out in court.

Gutierrez-Reed pleaded not guilty to the charges and maintained during the trial that he was not directly to blame for Hutchins' death. Baldwin also pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in a separate case.

The evidence and statements have implications for Baldwin, who pointed a gun at Hutchins during a rehearsal in October 2021 when the gun went off, killing her and injuring director Joel Souza.

Live ammunition on the Rust film set

Authorities discovered six rounds of ammunition on the film set, including in a box, a gun belt and a belt worn by Baldwin, who said he believed the gun contained only bullets that could not be fired.

Gutierrez-Reed's lawyers say she was unfairly used as a scapegoat. They claim that the real bullets came to the set from an Albuquerque-based supplier of dummy bullets.

They also pointed to a broader “atmosphere” of safety deficiencies uncovered by an investigation by state workplace safety inspectors that goes beyond Gutierrez-Reed.

Additionally, in a separate case, Gutierrez-Reed is accused of carrying a gun into a downtown Santa Fe bar in violation of state law. Her lawyers say the charges were used to coerce her into making a false confession about handling live ammunition on the set of “Rust.”

A safe workplace: Gutiérrez-Reed's responsibility

According to state Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Gutierrez-Reed was responsible for the storage, maintenance and handling of firearms and ammunition on set, as well as training performers who would handle firearms.

Real bullets are usually distinguished from simulated bullets by a small hole in the brass cartridge, indicating that there are no explosives inside, or by shaking the bullet to hear the sound of a bullet being inserted. Another characteristic of counterfeit bullets is that they have a missing primer or depressions on the bottom of the cartridge.

Rust Movie Productions paid a $100,000 fine to the state for safety violations that violated standard industry protocols. The report included statements that production managers took limited or no action to address two mishaps on the set before Hutchins was shot.

When will Alec Balwin be brought to trial?

Baldwin, the star and co-producer of “Rust,” was charged in January with one count of involuntary manslaughter.

Baldwin said he removed the gun's hammer, but not the trigger, and the gun fired.

The indictment against Baldwin sets out two alternative standards of prosecution, one based on negligent use of a firearm and another related to negligence without reasonable caution or “prudence,” also defined as “total disregard or indifference to the safety of others.”

Legal experts say this latest standard could expand the investigation beyond Baldwin's handling of the gun.

Prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis initially dismissed a manslaughter charge against Baldwin in April, saying they were informed that the gun may have been modified before the shooting and was malfunctioning.

A more recent analysis of the weapon concluded that “the trigger had to be pulled or squeezed sufficiently to release the fully cocked or retracted hammer from the test revolver.”

“Rust” used a working revolver. The industry guidelines that applied to “Rust” state that “live ammunition should never be used or brought into a studio or environment.” It also states: “Treat all firearms as if they were loaded.”

No date has been set for Baldwin's trial.

Levante jealousy and blackmail from an ex I was scared

Levante, jealousy and blackmail from an ex: “I was scared and ashamed. Then I reported it.

It's been 10 years since she got involved in a toxic, dangerous relationship. And it took just as many to come out of it, to denounce, to forgive. And talk about it so that those who have experienced the same nightmare as her can find the strength to get out of it and get help like her, no matter how difficult and scary it is. Claudia Lagona, aka Levante, talks about her experiences with Vanity Fair. “I was there too. “I can no longer say I know what certain women feel without admitting it,” she said in a lengthy interview. “Time, maturity and even becoming a mother have helped me process this “To stop being ashamed of who I am.” To forgive myself. And the desire to come into the light. This is how the Sicilian singer, who took part in the Sanremo Festival in 2020 and 2023, began her story to raise awareness of gender-based violence. «About ten years ago I fell in love with a man. “He was immediately very jealous,” remembers Levante, “in a kind of sick mechanism I had to justify myself to him.” They were signals, both his and mine. Anyway, I realized pretty quickly that I wasn't in love, and I told her so. Since he couldn't have me anymore, he lost his temper. The man did not come to terms with reality and when the singer-songwriter broke off the relationship, he began blackmailing her and bombarding her with messages. “He tried to blackmail me: he had videos of us, private files. “He called me nonstop, he wrote me 980 emails in a month, so about 30 a day,” she continues, explaining that everyone around her was worried, “I was scared, but maybe not enough, at that moment.” I didn't think he would hurt me, I was more afraid for him.

The ban on approaching

Then a lawyer friend persuaded her to file a complaint, but it wasn't easy: “At a certain point I felt mostly shame, a lot of shame.” I felt stupid: I didn't know how to deal with the situation, which had been going on for a few months. The coldness of the authorities and the attempts at minimization made the process even more difficult. “Our world is a man’s world that protects men. In the end, they banned this person from coming near me, no matter what that's worth. Since then, the man has repeatedly made his voice heard. To apologize, to tell her that she has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and that she has started psychotherapy. «I don't answer him, so he deletes the messages. “I just hope that this interview doesn't pressure him to contact me,” he adds, “now I have forgiven him.” I realized that I met him not out of love but out of pain. His and mine. This person also revealed a major problem of mine, which was my attachment to a certain type of man: my father. Her parent died when Lagona was 9, and as far as she remembers, he wasn't violent, but “he was tough, strict, unyielding.” I was fascinated by people who looked like him for a long time. And to those who still accuse a woman of reporting violence after so many years, he replies: “You know, when someone asks with extreme stupidity: “Ah, why did she think about it for twenty years before she reported that she was raped?” ?” ? Because 19 of them were for forgiving yourself and the last was for finding courage.”

Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson are engaged The Coldplay singer

Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson are “engaged”! The Coldplay singer is ready to marry the actress and has Gwyneth Paltrow's blessing

Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson are reportedly “engaged.”

The 47-year-old Coldplay singer proposed to the 34-year-old Hollywood actress “some time ago” and has the full blessing of his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow and their children Apple and Moses.

The couple have always kept things pretty private since they began dating six years ago

But a source told The Mirror: “The couple got engaged some time ago and kept the news secret.” But now they are open about it in their circles. They were into each other from day one, so this next step was inevitable.

“They are in no rush to plan the wedding, but are simply enjoying making their commitment official.”

The 47-year-old Coldplay singer proposed to the 34-year-old Hollywood actress “some time ago” and has the full blessing of his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow and their children Apple and Moses (pictured in 2019).

Web has contacted representatives for Chris and Dakota for comment.

Chris and Dakota met through mutual friends rather than through collaboration, and have “never really left each other” since then, the actress told Vanity Fair in June 2022.

This is entirely believable since people in show business are never more than a degree or two apart.

They were first spotted together in 2017, a year after the pop star's divorce from Gwyneth.

However, it wasn't initially clear whether the couple was dating or just close.

In June 2019, the couple fell apart, which was rumored to be due to the Coldplay man's push to have children.

This was a step that Dakota did not want to take in her professional prime. But before the summer was over, they were together again.

They will be particularly happy about this since they apparently got matching infinity sign tattoos in 2018.

Dakota has now said she loves Chris and Gwyneth's two children “as if my life depends on it”.

In an interview with Bustle, the 34-year-old actress opened up about being stepmom to Apple, 19, and Moses, 17, the teenage children that Coldplay singer Chris shares with Gwyneth.

She also revealed that she's “open” to having children of her own if that's what she “wants.”

“I love these kids like my life depends on it.” “With all my heart,” Dakota said of Apple and Moses.

As a member of a large blended family, Dakota – who was recently spotted in Malibu – has learned to embrace connections that have nothing to do with blood.

When the reporter showed a photo Gwyneth posted of her and Dakota, she said, “I grew up in such a big family and I just believe in the saying 'blood is thicker than water,'” she explained.

“The actual saying is, “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb,” meaning that the connections you have with the people you choose are stronger than the connections you have with the people you are actually born with. “

Dakota's parents are actors Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson. Both separated, Don married Kelley Phleger in 1999 and Melanie married Antonio Banderas in 1996. They divorced in 2015.

Now Dakota is open to having children of her own.

“I’m so open to it. I'm at a point where I really want to experience everything life has to offer. And especially as a woman, I think: What a fucking magical thing that is to do. What a crazy, magical, wild experience. If that's going to happen to me, I'm completely opposed to it. I've been stumbling a lot lately because we haven't been here much longer.

“There is so much to eat, learn, grow, experience and feel.” This includes all the pain and suffering and the feeling of helplessness in the face of the world. Most days I feel like the most useless piece of shit.

“I'm sitting in this stupid chair and talking about this stupid movie, and there are people in agonizing catastrophes, and what can I do?” I have this incredible friction within me. And then I think to myself: “We won't be here much longer, so if I'm going to be a mother, bring it on.”'

The actress has been dating Coldplay frontman Chris since 2017, but watching him on stage never gets old.

“I love watching him. I could watch him every day. I don't know how to explain it. “I feel like, I don't know… I'm watching my favorite being doing his favorite thing,” she explained.

Gwyneth recently shared this snap of her with Dakota

The couple has been living together in a multi-million dollar beach house in Malibu for several years.

The singer loves surfing and the actress loves swimming, making this a perfect spot.

Dakota also enjoys racing around in a 1965 Mustang that her partner bought her as a birthday present.

They support each other professionally, with Dakota performing at Chris's performances and Chris at Dakota's premieres.

In June 2023, the singer even sang a serenade for his girlfriend when his band visited Naples.

They even worked together once, with Dakota, the director of Coldplay's 2020 music video for the song Cry Cry Cry.

The wife of Lucas Henrique, the “Buddha” of BBB 24, Camila Moura, was hospitalized this Wednesday 6th with a “severe attack of pain”, says a statement on her social network. Camila gained national attention after sharing her husband's flirtation with contestant Giovanna Pitel within reality.

“Camila has been in hospital since 8am when she had a severe attack of pain and some other symptoms and is currently being monitored, examined and treated with medication. She has reached a point emotionally and physically where she needs care, she will be back soon,” she captioned Camila’s Instagram post.

Camila, who maintained a closed social media profile until last Friday the 1st, opened her profiles to the public to express her outrage over her husband's flirting with his fellow inmate. On Instagram, for example, she reached 1.8 million followers.

Stating that she felt betrayed by Buddha's behavior, she ended the relationship and published stories of her packing the capoeira teacher's bags. She also asked to join the eliminated contestant chat with Thaís Fersoza when Buda leaves the reality show.

Last Tuesday the 5th, she published a series of stories in which she claimed to have been blasted by the family of the BBB24 participant.

“Just to make one thing clear: I'm seeing the excitement building up. Some of Lucas' family members are accusing me of being an opportunist, of being a liar, of being fake just because I answered a box asking if they were “Give me emotional support in the present,” he said in the stories.

And he also said: “At the beginning of the program everything was beautiful, I brought out the beautiful in me, that was me.” [dando apoio]. And during those years of my relationship with Lucas, I always had a very good relationship with his family. We've never had a problem, in fact I find it ridiculous that we have to fight on social media because I've never directly mentioned anyone, I've never attacked anyone, I've always behaved respectfully towards them.”

Fatal shooting in the film “Rust”: Gunsmith found guilty of negligent homicide

The armorer from the film rustThe Alec Baldwin-produced film, whose cameraman was shot and killed on set, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter by an American court on Wednesday.

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, responsible for the weapons on this tight-budget production, was accused by prosecutors of repeated negligence. She faces up to 18 months in prison.

His sentence will not be decided until next month.

The filming of “Rust” turned into a drama in October 2021 on a ranch in New Mexico (southwest of the USA). Alec Baldwin had aimed a gun that was supposed to contain only empty bullets, but a very real projectile had killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza.

For two weeks, the trial tried to explain how this deadly bullet – one of the many live rounds collected by investigators – ended up on set in defiance of safety regulations that apply to the entire cinema industry.

In particular, during the hearings, jurors viewed images of Alec Baldwin dangerously handling weapons and pointing them at other members of the team without the gunsmith's intervention.

“This is not a case where he made a mistake that was that he accidentally put a live bullet into that gun,” prosecutor Kari Morrissey argued in her closing argument Wednesday.

“Endless failures”

“This case is about persistent and endless safety failures that resulted in the death of one person and the near death of another,” she added.

According to the prosecution, the gunsmith was again negligent on the morning of the tragedy: she was not present when Alec Baldwin prepared his scene and left the twenty guns used in the production unattended.

“She left the weapon in the church” where the tragedy occurred, “contrary to all the standards that govern the work of gunsmiths on the set,” the prosecutor emphasized. “As many witnesses have told you, she left weapons unattended all the time. October 21st was nothing unusual.”

Ms Morrissey accused the gunsmith of bringing live ammunition to set and failing to carry out the necessary checks to ensure the ammunition loaded into the gun was safe: blank bullets produce an easily recognizable clicking sound when the gun is shaken.

“If the dummy ammunition (…) is not checked to ensure that they are actually blank bullets, (…) it is a game of Russian roulette that takes place every time an actor carries a weapon,” it was about the prosecutor.

scapegoat

Prosecutors also accused the gunsmith of hiding cocaine that she had consumed outside of work hours after the tragedy. The jury found him not guilty on that count.

Ms. Gutierrez-Reed served as a scapegoat for a production that neglected safety for financial reasons and made her a “designated perpetrator,” argued Jason Bowles, one of her lawyers.

According to him, the young woman did not know that live ammunition had entered the set and assumed that the production only received blank bullets.

“As in any organization, responsibility lies with production. “It starts at the top,” he argued.

He also denounced the producers' willingness to report them to investigators the day after the tragedy.

“What the big guys want (…) is to continue working on finishing the film and making money,” he fumed.

Alec Baldwin, star and producer of the film, is also charged with manslaughter. His trial is expected to take place in July.

Filming on Rust resumed several months later, concluding in Montana, with Halyna Hutchins' widower Matthew serving as executive producer.

At the end of 2022, he dropped the civil proceedings he had initiated against Alec Baldwin following the expiration of a settlement, the amount of which was not disclosed.

Mario Jean presents a 7. friendly and deliciously sarcastic one-man show

At 59 and with a 30-year career, Mario Jean succeeds where many have failed: making audiences of different generations laugh by tackling topics specific to people his age.

The announcement of the bankruptcy of Just for Laughs on Tuesday morning did not dampen Mario Jean's joy in taking the stage of the Théâtre Maisonneuve in the evening to see the media premiere of his new show “Les imperfects bonheurs…” and other things about life! .

“I think of the staff at Just for Laughs, I can’t help but think of them. Just for fun, it's part of our culture and our humor in Quebec,” the comedian took the time to say at the end of the show.

This seventh solo exhibition, presented at Place des Arts, examines Mario Jean's three decades of jokes and career. And you could feel it in the room, which was clearly made up of fans laughing loudly at his every gag, as well as during this hour and a half show, during which the artist barely paused to catch his breath.

Friendly humor

With Mario Jean, it's hard not to like the friendly humor and the face of the somewhat naive middle-aged man, which allows him to sometimes, but never too much, fall into jokes “about physical leaks that come with 'age.' ' go along with it.” we laugh heartily.

Alone on a stage with minimalist decor, the nearly sixty-year-old comedian tells his story in a series of friendly numbers that explore popular themes and the trials of people of his generation. He tells us the story of his hospitalization for three sawn-off fingers (paying tribute to the work of the health network's staff) and highlights the noises that come with aging (have you ever heard a young person say, “Hey, yo?” ) , oupelaye, man!”?), describes the body that changes over the years and the memory that fails, while at the same time signaling the urgency to live.

  • Listen to the interview with Mario Jean, the comedian on Sophie Durocher's show QUB :

Through the hilarious and sarcastic story of the little African his family supported at the time of World Vision, Mario Jean tackles immigration without making it heavy, yet thought-provoking.

We keep giggling when the comedian mentions his “list of things he doesn't want to do or never do again before he dies.” Go to a nudist camp like his girlfriend wants, speak English (you have to listen , as he translates very Quebecois expressions into more than approximate English), give his email address when paying at a store, get surgery and… be a parent.

To become old

Mario Jean reveals that he has been in a relationship with his wife for 39 years (“my record,” he says) and takes the opportunity to recount the vagaries of menopause and andropause in a powerful number that ends… in a sex shop !

Then, when he imagines what the experience of a relationship with a man would be like, he concludes that regardless of our age, sexual orientation, or gender identity, what matters is experiencing these imperfect blisses.

Particularly noteworthy is the young comedian Tommy Néron, who, in less than 15 minutes as Mario Jean's opening act, quickly made people want to see each other again on stage.

–Mario Jean continues his tour of Quebec. He will be at the Salle Albert-Rousseau in Quebec City on March 19th and 1stum May.

Love Lies Bleeding is Kristen Stewarts highlight

“Love Lies Bleeding” is Kristen Stewart’s highlight

Muscles ripple, veins burst, and electronic music throbs in “Love Lies Bleeding,” a billowing, hyper-sexy neo-noir drenched in sweat, blood, and insect guts.

If the latter seems a little less expected, thanks to the bug-eating Ed Harris, this moment is far from the only unconventional provocation in Rose Glass' film, a pulpy, fairytale lesbian crime thriller in which bodies, large and small, are ravaged under the starry desert sky .

Not everything works. Heavy doses of melodrama and eye-popping surrealism blunt the lurid magic of “Love Lies Bleeding.” But this comes tantalizingly close to the idealized version of a Kristen Stewart film. Stewart has been one of the most electrifying stars in years. But “Love Lies Bleeding,” in which she plays a cynical gym worker named Lou who falls in love with a bodybuilding drifter, Jackie (Katy O'Brian), offers Stewart a vivid noir sandbox in which to showcase all her talent to obsession, desire and anger find their worst expression yet.

Glass, the British filmmaker whose 2019 horror film “Saint Maud” was an exciting debut, opens “Love Lies Bleeding” on a slightly magical note, gazing at the stars. The camera slowly pans to a warehouse in New Mexico, where music is blaring and people are streaming in. What kind of spooky night cave could this be? For a moment, it's disappointing to learn that it's just a gym full of men and women pushing themselves to exhaustion with machines and dumbbells. There are signs around them with slogans like “Only losers give up.”

The urge to make yourself bigger – with weights, drugs, guns, power or perhaps love – resonates throughout “Love Lies Bleeding.” More than once, Glass will linger on swelling muscles, almost Hulk-like, although these expansions have nothing to do with the immensity that Lou and Jackie ultimately find together.

Poisons are also lurking everywhere. For the trainees, weakness is one of them. Lou is a smoker but is trying to quit. Jackie is addicted to a bodybuilder fantasy and a self-realization craze. And then there's the nastiness of the local shooting range, where Lou Sr. (Harris) presides over a corrupt arms trafficking empire from behind a desk surrounded by creepy crawlies. The satire of “Love Lies Bleeding” isn’t shy. A billboard reads: “Dream, next exit.”

At the shooting range, Jackie gets a job after meeting a sleazy, mullet-wearing lackey named JJ (Dave Franco) in his car. “That was magical,” he says after something that clearly wasn’t. The real magic will come later in “Love Lies Bleeding,” but not for JJ, whose abuse toward his wife and Lou's sister Beth (Jena Malone) leads to a bloody series of events that reluctantly brings Lou into an ever closer relationship with the estranged Father brings them upset, Lou Sr.

In a sense, all of this springs from the love that blossoms between Lou and Jackie. It starts with a steroid injection and a kiss and quickly becomes passionate and protective. Their increasingly close bond drives them to violent extremes. Being in love means being ruthless – towards former lovers (Anna Baryshnikov plays one of Lou's abandoned mistresses) and family alike.

Jackie's roid-charged disorder also plays a role, making “Love Lies Bleeding” an interesting addition to Jonathan Majors' unreleased bodybuilder film “Magazine Dreams,” not to mention “The Iron Claw,” another beefy A24 film about family decay and Muscle building.

Like that film, “Love Lies Bleeding” is set in the 1980s, although it seems rather dated. As things spin in Glass and Weronika Tofilska's script, the film keeps the grisly events in perspective, at times taking the perspective of Jackie's drug delirium, such as when she flees to Las Vegas to compete in a bodybuilding competition, or slips closer approaches Lou Sr. as he coolly pulls the strings.

But it will be dangerous to break away from Stewart. Love Lies Bleeding loses some of its momentum every time she's not on screen. However, no one would want anything less from Harris after “Love Lies Bleeding.” As he gets older he seems to be getting better and better, his voice sounds more and more sonorous. As clownish as he is portrayed in the film – with a bald head and long hair down to his shoulders – he firmly justifies a film that resorts to some unnecessary, outrageous flourishes. (I fear this is an increasingly common effect of today's struggling film world – the urge to overcompensate with a hopeful quirk.)

But neo-noirs made with this level of style deserve some leeway to go all out. As the sign says, “Only losers give up.”

“Loves Lies Bleeding,” an A24 release, is rated R by the Motion Picture Association for violence and graphic images, sexual content, nudity, language throughout and drug use. Running time: 104 minutes. Three out of four stars.

Mariela Sánchez admits that her relationship with Cristian Castro ended due to a misunderstanding

Mexico City — A misunderstanding after one of the presentations that Cristian Castro gave in Mexico City led to his separation from the Argentine Mariela Sánchez.

In an interview for the Intrusos program, Sánchez said that the interpreter saw a photo of him and an old friend, which led to an argument between them.

“There was an argument and I made the decision to turn back. I think Cristian is telling the truth, the artist's life is complicated, I tried to accompany him,” said Sánchez.

The conflict occurred as Castro's second concert with Yuri was taking place at the National Auditorium in Mexico City. Meanwhile, the budding relationship only became known in January this year when the couple posted photos of them together.

“I never had anything bad about him, I recently had a big argument because he saw something that wasn't right,” explained the Argentine, adding that in the photo in question she is seen with Enrico, a lifelong friend , with whom she dated from 2022. For the same reason, she decided to put an end to the “Lucky Rooster” because she did not let him envy her because of a picture in which she posed years ago.

“Given the reaction of a person who sees a photo from 2022, I can't say they think I'm in a relationship with someone who doesn't see that,” he said.

In an interview with Ana María Alvarado, Sánchez thanked for the attention that Cristian's family showed her.

“I had nothing bad with Verónica Castro, I met her family and found it excellent and I appreciate the whole family, they all treated me very well. It was a pleasure to meet Verónica and I thank her for everything she did by taking me to the Basilica of Guadalupe,” he concluded.
