Emmerdale actress Michelle Hardwick has tightened security at her home in Leeds after homophobic death threats continue to threaten the safety of her family.
The 46-year-old Wakefield native came out as gay nine years ago while dating her ex, Rosie Nicoll, who she married and later split two years later.
Since dating producer wife Kate Brooks, with whom she has a son, the couple have received such troubling threats that “the police had to be called.”

On Monday, the soap star, who plays Vanessa Woodfield in Emmerdale, took to her Instagram Stories to share her gratitude to a local security firm for helping her increase protection around her family home in the north of the country.
She wrote to her 125,000 followers: “I just wanted to say what an amazing service we had from the very first phone call to the final result.
“Anyone in the Leeds/Wakefield area who needs security solutions should look no further than @msc.security.solutions.
“This was a fully paid job, not a paid ad. Just wanted to post because they were fabulous.

Michelle revealed in May that the couple had “terrible” trolling that showed them the “real dark side” of social media, despite the “majority of people” being “wonderful and supportive”.
She said OK! Magazine at the time: “We’ve had a bit of trolling in recent years. And there were times when the police had to be called because of death threats.
“If they say your son’s name and you’re just like, ‘Really? I’m just on a soap opera, you know – we’re not harming anyone.”
The couple are currently expecting their second child, a baby girl, after making a live TV gender reveal last month.
The Emmerdale actress, 46, shared the exciting news on ITV’s Loose Women, saying: “So baby number two is a little girl.”
The couple are also parents to son Teddy, whom they welcomed in October 2020, and joined them on the show to reveal the happy news.
Michelle and Kate revealed their donor is also Teddy’s biological father and he’s open to meeting the kids when they’re 18 if they want to see him.
