Actor Manuel “Flaco” Ibañez asserted that Emilio Fernández Romo, better known as El Indio Fernández, took a gun from him and chased him out of a restaurant, he recounted in a recent interview with Yordi Rosado.
In this interview, the actor and comedian shared a unique anecdote that the Mexican film director, actor and producer known for his legacy had. Ibáñez mentioned that when he was an architecture student, he saw Indio Fernández arrive at the restaurant where he was, accompanied by a woman.
Excited because he was admiring him, he didn’t want to miss the occasion and approached him to express his admiration: “We were in a restaurant and I was still studying architecture and I saw him come in with a lady and I said , let me go and say hello,” he commented, adding: “I came and told him Mr. Fernández you don’t know my admiration, who knows how much I said to him but he liked me and said, I should sit down please ”
El ‘Flaco’ Ibáñez shared his surprise with Yordi when he heard him speak, because the voice of El Indio Fernández was dubbed by Víctor Alcocer Gómez to give his characters a more masculine tone. “He spoke like that and it was like he destroyed the image of this Mexican taxi ***,” said Ibáñez, who said the Coahuila filmmaker liked him so much that he invited him to sit at his table .
