EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Paul McCartney’s ex-wife Heather Mills sets a new world skiing record

Some have claimed Heather Mills was on a slippery slope when she divorced Sir Paul McCartney in 2008, but the former model proved that going downhill fast can be exhilarating.

Two years after her divorce, Mills took up competitive skiing and she has just been inscribed in the Guinness World Records as the fastest disabled skier of all time after a staggering 102mph in Vars, France in 2015.

Amputee Mills, 55, says, “I’m thrilled to finally have made it into the book.”

She wore a specially designed prosthetic leg to withstand the rigors of the track.

Newlywed TV star Zane is splitting from artist Nettie

After courting women like The Voice host Emma Willis, Sarah Harding, the late Girls Aloud singer, and Sadie Frost, TV host Alex Zane finally settled down with trendy artist Nettie Wakefield last summer.

However, I understand the couple have already split just under five months into their London wedding reception.

“Late last year we decided to separate,” confirms Zane, 43, who proposed to Nettie, 35, in 2018. “We are leaving each other in the best possible way for two people who have shared incredible experiences filled with love and laughter and as many happy memories as two people can make at this time.

“We remain best friends even though we’ve decided to go our separate ways.”

The Yorkshire man added: “Of course, leaving a relationship is never easy, but we move forward knowing we can count on each other. It is as amicable a separation as can be and of course we will continue to raise our Whippet Simon together.”

I’m told Nettie, who was previously snapped by Poldark heartthrob Aidan Turner and linked to Twilight star Robert Pattinson, is being comforted by model Owen McGinnity, who was pictured with his arm around her last October.

Nettie, whose artwork hangs at the Groucho Club, has tied the knot with Zane during the pandemic, but they have been forced to limit the number of their wedding guests due to Covid restrictions, as was the big celebration last August.

Zane made his name on Channel 4 co-hosting Popworld with Alexa Chung and the Rude Tube clip show.

After proposing to Nettie, a source reportedly said, “He has a huge crush on him and soon realized he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.”

May is traveling with Anita

Queen guitarist Sir Brian May and his wife, former EastEnders star Anita Dobson, looked like part of the cast as they turned up to see Cirque Du Soleil’s latest show Kurious at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

The circus extravaganza is themed “Steampunk” – a science fiction genre inspired by steam-powered industrial machines of the 19th century.

And the rocker, 75, and Dobson, 73, came in unusual costumes to match the motto of the evening. “We were already into steampunk, so we thought we’d try it,” Sir Brian tells me.

Adam’s conversion is snookered – by bats

Strictly Come Dancing star Tony Adams has canceled plans for a stable conversion at his £3.5million Cotswolds mansion after bats were found on the roof.

The England and Arsenal legend, 56, and his wife, Poppy Teacher, wanted to convert the annexe into a two-bedroom annexe, but a bat survey found the snooker room could be used as a sleeping place for smaller horseshoes, serotine and brown long is used – eared bats – a protected species.

Given that he’s nearly died in car accidents at least twice, you’d think Richard “Hamster” Hammond’s family would want him to give up driving. Instead, the 53-year-old Grand Tour host says they want to slow down his rush. “My wife and daughters banned me from dancing because of my dancing face,” Hammond admits. “The dad’s moves are bad enough, but when they’re topped by a silly, grinning, dancing dad face, it’s unforgivable. At weddings I am told to sit down.”

Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons, who has played some of cinema’s most villainous villains, has taken on a much more light-hearted role. “I want to play a clown because I think some of my behaviors in life show that I’m still a bit of a clown,” he tells me at a theater performance in London.

Referring to his role as Scar, the evil antagonist in Disney’s The Lion King, Irons, 74, admits his distinctive voice still terrifies children he meets. “Sometimes they run away from me in horror because they hear my voice. Of course I love children, but when they run away.’

Harry kicks lapdog

Omid Scobie is the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s most loyal lapdog, but Harry still gave him a good kick in his memoir.

Though he refrains from naming him, Harry focuses on Scobie’s biography Finding Freedom, which claims Meghan underwent ruthless kidnapping training.

“A bestseller describes the day that special forces came to our house, grabbed Meg, put her through several intense days of drills, forced her into back seats and into car trunks, and sped to safe houses,” writes Harry.

In fact, Scobie’s account claims, “Meghan was even taught to bond with the enemy [and] instructed how to drive a car while conducting a chase.’

The whole experience was “extremely intense and scary” for Meghan, who Scobie writes was exposed to her before her wedding – unlike Kate Middleton.

According to Harry, this is all “complete nonsense”. Meghan “didn’t have a minute’s training,” he adds. “On the contrary, the palace brought up the idea of giving her no security at all because I was now sixth in line to the throne.”

He’s an officer in the Household Cavalry, but You’re Beautiful singer James Blunt admits that at five feet six, he wasn’t a convincing Superman at a costume party. “I went home from the party with my wife,” he says of aristocrat Sofia Wellesley. “She was dressed up as Wonder Woman – and I was four inches shorter than her with her heels on. I just looked like a little kid being led home in my outfit.”
