Eagles fans march into town as they climb lampposts, sing “F*** the Chiefs” and duel with cops

Chaos has broken out in the city of brotherly love after the Philadelphia Eagles narrowly lost the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Signs of unrest emerged almost immediately after the team’s 38-35 loss on Sunday night – with angry fans already swarming City Hall and clashing with police who were stationed across the city in the event of such a result.

Police scanner audio since 10:30 p.m. suggests cops have already made multiple arrests as citizens were seen scaling lampposts, chanting “f*** the Chiefs” and hurling glass bottles throughout the city’s downtown area.

Footage circulating on social media also shows several local residents setting off fireworks while others goad armed SWAT teams tasked with safeguarding the piece.

In a shocking clip, a group of Philadelphians are seen setting off firecrackers, with some reports suggesting the explosives are being thrown at officers.

After a crushing defeat highlighted by game-changing penalties, cops are currently using tear gas to prevent further disruption. The loss is compounded by the fact that the city’s baseball team, the Phillies, was similarly eliminated from the World Series just a few months ago.

However, the Chiefs’ victory on Sunday was anything but a matter of course. The 1.5-point underdogs not only trailed for much of the game, but also struggled to contain Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, who played the game of his life.

Aside from a costly fumble in the second quarter that was returned for a touchdown by Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton, Hurts was sensational. The third-year Eagles star threw for 304 yards and a touchdown while running for three points and a two-point conversion that tied the game for 35 points late in the fourth quarter. But his last pass — a last gun Ave Mary — fell short and gave the Chiefs the win.

But it was the Chiefs’ superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes who proved the bane of Philadelphia’s existence, making a now-characteristic comeback in the second half of games.

That came after the 27-year-old – who now has two Super Bowls to his name – aggravated an existing ankle injury in the second quarter and literally hobbled into the locker room at half-time, with his team 10 points behind.

By the end of the game — and after a few random calls for Mahomes’ team that may have offended the already notoriously rowdy Philadelphia populace — the sophomore quarterback was the one left

“He’s the MVP,” said Chiefs coach Andy Reid of Mahomes. “That’s all that needs to be said. MVP. And you saw it tonight.”

Eagles fans, meanwhile, likely have a different take on the day’s events after a costly fumble in the second quarter and a late-game penalty that allowed the opposing team to kick a game-winning field goal eight seconds from time.

Those frustrations may have fueled the distinct reaction currently being seen across the city. Footage shows citizens hitting each other while some were filmed attempting to overrun locations watched by police officers.
