Due to security concerns Lulas campaign launch event in Brazil

Due to security concerns, Lula’s campaign launch event in Brazil is cancelled

Those responsible for protecting the Labor Party (PT) presidential candidate for the October elections gave the organizers of the event security reasons at the time of Lula’s visit to the metallurgical company MWM Motores y Generadores in the neighborhood of Jurubatuba, at 07:00 local time.

Such an act was agreed between the former head of state’s campaign and the leadership of Força Sindical, which controls the union of metallurgists in the capital, São Paulo.

Due to the cancellation, the first activity in the evening became a visit to the Volkswagen factory in Sao Bernardo do Campo.

Following the advice of the former president, “tomorrow’s factory event has been canceled due to lack of time to complete security clearance procedures.”

“However, ex-President Lula’s agenda is maintained at the door of Volkswagen in Sao Bernardo do Campo,” he reported at 2:00 p.m. local time.

The choice of San Bernardo del Campo is not accidental. In 1968, Lula joined the local Metallurgical Union and began his political career.

As well as launching the campaign in Sao Bernardo do Campo, the former head of the federal executive will also attend the inauguration of Minister Alexandre de Moraes as President of the Supreme Electoral Court.

The PF team looking after his safety sent a letter to the company’s regional regulators with a list of adversities they will face to protect Lula in the next election.

Among the issues to confront throughout the election campaign is “access to extended lethal weapons resulting from legislative changes made in 2019.”

Officially, candidates can start broadcasting their campaigns from tomorrow, with the right to vote, broadcasting the number used in the ballot box, television advertising and distribution of leaflets to voters.

The election period runs until October 2nd and is extended to the 30th of the same month in the case of a second ballot.

To date, Lula is leading all opinion polls ahead of the election in which far-right leader Jair Bolsonaro is seeking re-election.
