Quebec’s Leylah Fernandez will have a busy day at Tuesday’s tennis tournament in Dubai as she will play two matches including a second-round singles match against world No. 1 of Poland Iga Swiatek.

After beating Brazil’s Luisa Stefani and Kazakh’s Anna Danilina 1-6, 6-3, 11-9 in their opening-round doubles match with American Bethanie Mattek-Sands on Monday, Fernandez will have a tough job against Swiatek, which she defeated 6-1 and 6-2 in the round of 16 in Adelaide in 2022. Ranked 37 on the WTA Tour and remains in the hunt for a third career title.
After her shock with the best in the world, Fernandez will find Mattek-Sands for a duel against the pair of China’s Xu Yifan and Russia’s Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
