“Drunk” bear is found slumped in a forest after feasting on hallucinogenic “crazy honey.”

A ‘drunk’ bear was found slumped in a forest and taken to the vet after feasting on hallucinogenic ‘crazy honey’ in Turkey.

In footage taken in Duzce province’s Yigilca district, the bear wobbled, howled and stared into space as she sat belly up in the back of a pickup truck after being rescued from the forest by people yesterday had been.

The crazy honey she was ingesting, called “Deli Bal” in Turkish, is a type of rhododendron honey that can have hallucinogenic effects.

The bear gasped as she suffered the after-effects of eating the honey.

She has been taken to a veterinarian for treatment and will be released into the wild in the coming days, according to local authorities, and is in good condition.

The cub was found by ranger Yasin Oztas, who told local media that they had taken it to the Ducze National Parks and Nature Conservation Branch Directorate.

Mr Oztas explained that the villagers said the previous day that a mother was passing through the area with her two boys.

He continued, “While we were conducting our forest conservation control measures, we saw a bear cub lying lethargically on the ground.”

At first the group was scared, but quickly realized that the boy was not well.

The ministry said in a statement yesterday: “Our baby brown bear, exhausted in Duzce, is in good health and our teams are continuing their treatment.”

Citizens were also asked to suggest an appropriate name for the bear.

The bee expert Dr. Meral Kekecoglu, deputy director of the Beekeeping Research, Development and Application Center at Duzce University, explained the dangers of crazy honey to local media.

dr Kekecoglu said: “It has benefits, but it can also lead to death.”

He added that types of hallucinogenic honey made with chestnut or rhododendron and others made with linden may have different results.

the dr explained that depending on the chemical composition of the honey, the effects can be very different.

dr Kekecoglu continued: “When the amount of Grayanotoxin is very high, it shows blood pressure lowering effects and even starts to make the person consuming it hallucinate.

‘|Therefore, it can reach very dangerous levels in people who consume it. The situation can be very bad.

“You have to be very careful when consuming rhododendron honey. It has benefits, but it can lead to consequences that can lead to death.

“It is debatable whether it is possible to have such an effect on a bear, but it is possible.

“If it has such an effect even on a bear, think about how much of an effect it can have on a person if they consume too much.”

Gayanotoxins are a family of neurotoxins found in various plant species.

dr Kekecoglu said honey with this substance, when consumed in a controlled manner, can help people suffering from high blood pressure and asthma.

Turkey’s Directorate General of Forestry said in a statement also on Thursday: “Our foresters on patrol have found this delighted bear cub.

“We think it had a little too much honey based on initial estimates.”
