Driving through Madrid and Ávila at 200 per hour: the videos taken by the co-drivers “reveal” two reckless drivers

First commit a crime and then brag about the crime on the networks. So did two unrelated young people who are under investigation for driving two vehicles at more than 200 kilometers per hour while being videotaped by their respective passengers to post the images on social media. One of the people under investigation is a minor under 16 who was driving at more than 200 kilometers per hour on the M-410 highway that connects the Madrid cities of Arroyomolinos and Parla, while the other 211 on the AV-910 reached the height of Arenas de San Pedro (Avila). The Guardia Civil found both perpetrators using the videos.

The first of those identified is accused of reckless driving. This is a minor who only has a license to drive mopeds and is behind the wheel of a Seat. Beside him, the 19-year-old owner of the car takes in the scene and stops to show the odometer. The video also shows the minor, whose face can be seen, using one hand while driving and consulting the cellphone at night. The co-pilot is accused of being a necessary cooperation partner for reckless driving.

The other under investigation is under the scrutiny of the Civil Traffic Guard for boasting of driving at 130 mph on a single-lane highway with a speed limit of 90. You can even see him overtaking at more than 200 km/h and in the rain. Just a few seconds later, he crosses a section regulated at 80. The passenger captures the scene that landed in the nets while cheering the driver, “Na, na, na.”

Negligent driving can be punished with imprisonment from six months to two years and suspension of a driver’s license from one to six years. The latter is under investigation for a crime against road safety, which can result in imprisonment, fines of 12 to 24 months and community service from 10 to 40 days.
