Driver Crashes at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate Dead Today

On Sunday night, a car crashed into the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. It is still unclear how this happened.

A car crashed into a pillar at the Brandenburg Gate in central Berlin. Firefighters found a dead man in the car, a police spokesman said Monday morning. Other people probably wouldn’t be in the car, it’s “relatively certain”. According to current knowledge, there were no other casualties.

The car – a dark vehicle with a notchback – would have collided with a tourist spot in the capital on Sunday night, around 23:30, coming from the central avenue Unter den Linden.

The badly damaged vehicle came to a stop wedged between two pillars of the gate. Black marks and minor chips were visible on the massive pillars.

Initially, it was unclear how fast the vehicle was driving – as well as the identity of the driver and the background to the incident. The structure of the Brandenburg Gate was damaged. As the “picture” writes, several witnesses rushed to help, but the driver was killed immediately.
