Dominican Left Calls for Americas Without Exclusions Summit

In a letter to the head of state, both heads of state, representing different political organizations, spoke about the way the United States government, as the host of the summit, is handling the convening and invitations to the conclave and trying to cancel them for political and political reasons exclude ideologically, to Nicaragua, Venezuela and Cuba.

They pointed out that these summits were created as a mechanism for mediation, not confrontation or division, to discuss economic and political issues.

For this reason, they asked Abinader to contact the US executive, as other presidents of the region have done, including notably that of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to reconsider and rectify the unfortunate decision.

If, unfortunately, the Joe Biden administration persists in its erroneous policy of encouraging confrontation and division that has generated so much resentment in most governments, we ask that you decline to attend, they claimed.

An event of this kind with exclusions is not the thinking and historical work of the founding fathers of the freedom and independence of our peoples.

The signatories told the President that history rewards those who, in moments of trial and definition, have been able to side with principles.

“The Dominican people and sister nations look to you for this mediation work for the sake of inclusion, mutual respect, dialogue, justice and peace,” the letter concluded.
