Djavan denies rumors of serious neurological illness DOL

About 700 million new cases of Parkinson’s disease occur in Brazil each year, according to the IBGE. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 1% of the world’s population over 65 suffers from this disease.

There were some rumors this week that singer Djavan, 73, has Parkinson’s disease after the artist revealed tremors in public.

However, the singer denied that he has Parkinson’s disease. He revealed the symptoms were of a different illness. According to him, the disease was diagnosed by a doctor and did not recur after treatment. He further revealed that despite the rumours, no one has directly asked about the matter.

In an interview with the newspaper O Globo, Ale explained. “I had what is called essential tremor. Some have it on their hands, others on their legs. I had it in mind. It was cool because you show up and it comes out, you could see that right away. And it’s very emotional. If you worry, it gets worse,” he said.

Djavan said he was medicated after receiving the diagnosis and is fine. “I didn’t have anything else. It is a dysfunction caused by lack of sleep. The less you sleep, the more vulnerable you are to essential tremor. I’ve never been the guy who slept the most in my life. I’m feeling better now.”
