Dismissed due to a police error

A 19-year-old man from Luxembourg narrowly escaped jail over a police error after he found six kilos of drugs and 35,000 euros – more than $50,000 – in his home.

On December 28, police officers from Athus in Luxembourg raided the home of a young couple, Belgian media 7sur7 reported.

Branded shoes, a banknote counter, 35,000 euros in cash, 5 kg of cannabis and 600 grams of cocaine: it didn’t take much for the young man to be arrested. He was accused of drug dealing.

Nevertheless, the 19-year-old was released because the police allegedly searched his apartment without a search warrant, which amounts to a significant procedural violation, argued his lawyer Me Olivier Martins.
