According to his wife Chloé Dugas, Eduardo Malpica, whom she describes as very concerned, would never have abandoned his family and his son Santiago, who was the apple of his eye before his disappearance.

“He wanted to check several times a night if Santiago was breathing well while he was sleeping. I often woke up at night, Eduardo wasn’t next to me, he was lying next to the little one in his bed,” she described.

The hypothesis that he would have fled voluntarily therefore does not stand up to her. It wasn’t uncommon for him to text her to make sure everyone was okay at home.

It is also more difficult in Ms. Dugas’ new reality to have to explain to her 4-year-old son where his father is.

“He asked me three days ago if someone had put dad in a trash can. He keeps asking me when dad is coming back. I always try to calm him down though. Of course I don’t have an answer for him. I also imagine that there are discussions that need to be had at school. Poor little darling, it must be so hard. He doesn’t necessarily want to talk to me about it. He says it’s a secret in his brain,” added Eduardo’s wife.
