Did you know the ‘U’ was relegated from the Higher Volleyball League due to the bad behavior of its fans?

In 2011, an attack broke out during the game between the two ‘u’ j sports federation It prompted the creams’ disqualification and a decline from which it has not returned to this day.

Thursday, February 24th, 2011 will go down as one of the darkest chapters in the history of the Universitario de Deportes. That day an incident in one of the grandstands of the Manuel Bonilla Coliseum in Miraflores caused the disqualification of the sports university of Women’s National Higher Volleyball League (LNSV). As if that wasn’t enough, he was demoted to the Lima District League.

What happened?

During the game between Universitario de Deportes and Deportivo Alianza, when the second set was being played, a subject identified with the colors of the cream team attacked an opposing fan. As a result of the attack, the victim suffered a laceration on his hand and the game was suspended.

The fact did not stop there and was investigated by the Control Committee of the LNSV, which issued its decision two days later, that is, on Sunday 26 February. “The acts of violence of February 24 constitute a serious offense typified by the regulations of the Peruvian Volleyball Federation (FPV).”

Why was Universitario punished with disqualification and relegation?

The LNSV competition rules state that the participating teams are responsible for the correct behavior of their members, including their fans. The aggression of the pseudo-fan of the ‘U’, according to the tournament organizers, immediately jeopardized the development of the tournament.

Therefore, due to the need to ensure the welfare of LNSV participants, after much debate, it was decided that the ‘U’ would be disqualified from the 2010 tournament and relegated to the Lima District League. Universitario appealed the imposed sanction; however, the FPV declared this complaint to be inadmissible.
