  • Derek Jeter joined ESPN’s KayRod with Michael Kay and Alex Rodriguez.

  • During the show, ESPN showed a photo from the 1997 “Shirtless Shortstops” photoshoot with Jeter and Rodriguez, though Jeter asked her not to.

  • Jeter joked — or maybe didn’t — that it would be his last visit to the show.

Derek Jeter didn’t enjoy reliving his Shirtless Shortstops photo.

During an appearance on ESPN’s “KayRod” show with Michael Kay and Alex Rodriguez, a now infamous Sports Illustrated photo from 1997 appeared — with Jeter, Rodriguez, Edgar Renteria, Alex Gonzalez and Rey Ordóñez all shirtless, wearing baseball pants and gold chains.

Kay joked that Jeter “scared” the show’s producer not to show the photo.

“This will be my last visit here,” Jeter Kay replied.

After some laughs, Kay proceeded to call the game. Moments later, the shirtless photo appeared on the screen.

While Rodriguez laughed, Jeter said nothing.

“Well it was nice having you,” Rodriguez laughed.

Jeter replied, “This is my last time here.”

Despite the awkwardness, there were still nice moments between the former rivals and teammates on the show.

Rodriguez called his broken relationship with Jeter one of the biggest regrets of his life during their playing days.

“Look, you’re moving on, you’re learning,” Jeter said in response to Rodriguez. “Things happen in life. I’ve been through personal things, lost one of my best friends [former Yankee] Gerald Williams, and you realize that life is short. You don’t hold grudges anymore and move on.”

In the meantime, we’ll see if Jeter can forgive “KayRod” and ESPN for showing a photo he clearly would rather forget.
