Denver Broncos GM George Paton brings the Broncos in for Bradley Chubb

For the second year in a row, the Denver Broncos traded a pass rusher for sizeable compensation.

As the fifth overall pick of the 2018 draft, Bradley Chubb had high expectations. How about seeing Von and Chubb on the field at the same time? Well, the good news is that with Von now in Buffalo and Chubb having been traded to the Dolphins, there’s an exceptional chance they’ll play in the same game together again. Just not together.

With the Broncos signing Russell Wilson on a $250 million monster extension just before the start of the season, Denver was unlikely to be able to keep Chubb after this season. General Manager George Paton not only gave Chubb a stepping stone to reaping a huge contract after this season, he also propelled Denver back into the 1st round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

While the results haven’t quite manifested on the field just yet, it’s hard to argue that Paton isn’t chasing every opportunity to improve this Denver Broncos football team. On this week’s Something Something Broncos, Mike and Jess break down the trade that overran the trade deadline… and take a look at the trades that didn’t happen. Such is the landscape for the Broncos entering the second half of the 2022 season.
