Dentist reveals the three things lazy patients do that ruin their teeth – so how many are YOU to blame for?

A dentist has revealed three habits that damage people’s gums and ruin their teeth in a shocking TikTok video.

dr Wei Jian from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia shared a video on the social media platform about how certain behaviors lead to chipped, sensitive and crooked teeth.

In his heavily animated on-camera piece, in which he dresses in his light scrub set, Dr. Jian the clip by advising patients to stop grinding.

NHS guidelines show this can lead to them becoming worn out, over-sensitive and broken.

He shows the consequences of bruxism by superimposing two images of teeth that appear to have been broken off.

What NOT to do if you want healthy teeth

3. Nail biting

His second tip is to avoid using toothpicks, as they can lead to bruised and receding gums and sensitive teeth.

He ends the video by winking at the recorder and showing his immaculate teeth.

The news comes after an expert revealed how to get a smile that rivals a Hollywood star for a fraction of the price.

dr Krystyna Wilczynski, an Essex-based cosmetic dentist and facial esthetician, advises swapping out fizzy drinks and caffeine for vegetables like broccoli, which contain high levels of iron, which reduce acid erosion that leads to discoloration of teeth.

“It’s important to watch what you eat and drink if you want white teeth. Many foods and drinks, like wine, contain substances that can stain teeth,” she explained.

“The color found in these items comes from chromogens, which are deeply pigmented molecules that are attracted to the enamel surface of your teeth.”

“Heavily contaminated food wears down tooth enamel and exposes dentin, which is naturally yellow. Acidic drinks and foods such as B. Fizzy drinks that we enjoy can cause tooth enamel erosion, which also exposes yellow dentin.”
