The French are expressing their support for the Iranian people and are paying a heavy price, according to netizens. After a demonstration near the Iranian embassy in Paris on September 25, several images of a woman with a bloody face circulated. “This is what the police do to French citizens who dare to show their support for an oppressed people,” writes one user.
To reinforce this, several people quote an article from the Insoumission website entitled: “Iran: the demonstration of support for Paris violently repressed by the police, the images of shame. And for illustration, a woman’s bloodied face.
These protesters were gathered in support of the Iranian people and the protest movement that has sprung up in the country since the death of Mahsa Amini on September 16. The 22-year-old had been arrested by the vice squad on charges of “inappropriate dress” for wearing her veil incorrectly. More than 75 citizens have been killed in Iran since then, according to the Oslo-based NGO Iran Human Rights.

In reality, it wasn’t the police beatings that brought the protester to this state. This accusation also blemished, knowing that Paris condemned the violence perpetrated at demonstrations in Iran in recent days.
More specifically, unless one is content to just read the title of the article published on the L’Insoumission website, alleged police violence is not mentioned anywhere. It is certainly a shortcut created and shared by some internet users.

It was the outfit the protester wore to denounce the violence. She can be seen in several videos of the mobilization, with red stripes on her face and bloody hand stains on her white tunic. This woman carried a sign that read, “Here is the picture of my people. Note that this September 25 demonstration did not go smoothly. The procession was originally intended to reach the Iranian embassy but was stopped by security forces who used tear gas.
