Delta Intercontinental Jet landing off the runway in The Netherlands

An intercontinental jet from the American company Delta landed a few meters from the runway at Amsterdam Airport.

Delta Airlines Airbus A330300, registration N802NW, flew DL134 from Detroit in the United States to Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The aircraft was on final approach for landing when the main landing gear touched down just short of the paved runway.

Several signal lights were damaged in the incident. After the incident, the aircraft continued on the runway and taxied to the apron without further incident. Nobody was hurt.

The Dutch Safety Board (DSB), the Dutch road safety authority, sent a team of investigators to the crime scene.

The airport confirmed that the aircraft landed on the main landing gear on the grass in front of the runway, several threshold lights were damaged and the runway had to be closed for about an hour for lighting repairs.

According to data from Aviation Herald, the aircraft involved in the accident is still on the ground in Amsterdam around 12 hours after landing. His next flight to Boston, DL259, was cancelled.
