Mike McCarthy is stunned to hear a No. 5 seed is an underdog down the road against a No. 2 seed.
The Dallas Cowboys coach seemed surprised to hear his team didn’t prefer to beat the 49ers at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday.
During his weekly appearance on Friday’s “Shan and RJ” show on 105.3 The FAN, McCarthy realized his Cowboys are four-point underdogs.
“So we’re the outsider?” McCarthy asked. Then he was told about the four-point spread. “At four? Wow. OK.”
The head coach then tried to explain.
“We’re very confident, I think there’s an outsider in all of us,” he said. “While you thrive and strive in this business –“
He quit, admitted he was stonewalling, then said he agreed with comments made by Micah Parsons earlier in the week about taking on the underdog role.
TIED TOGETHER: How “grumpy” cowboys deal with the short week before facing the 49ers
PointsBet, our betting partner, currently has a four point spread in favor of San Francisco, with the money line at 49ers -200, Cowboys +165.
Only time will tell if the head coach’s reaction will be confirmed or if it will go under as another classic McCarthy reaction.
