Danny Pintauro slams Candace Cameron Bure for a ‘terrible’ 2015 interview

Danny Pintauro, who starred in Who’s the Boss?, opens up about the “disappointing” way Candace Cameron Bure treated him when he appeared on The View seven years ago.

Pintauro called his discussion with then-View co-hosts Bure, 46, and Raven-Symoné, 37, “one of the deepest moments” of his life while speaking with David Yontef on his podcast, Behind The Velvet Rope.

Pintauro, 47, appeared on The View after revealing his HIV diagnosis and crystal meth use on Oprah Winfrey’s Where Are They Now? in 2015.

Bure “was basically saying, ‘Are you taking responsibility for getting HIV because you’ve been living a promiscuous lifestyle?'” Pintauro recalled to Yontef on Tuesday’s episode.

“And turned right to my husband and said, ‘Are you having unprotected sex with your husband?'” he added.

It was actually Symoné who asked Pintauro’s husband, singer/actor Wil Tabares, if the couple used protection.

Last year, Bure left the Hallmark Channel and joined the Great American Family network to work on projects that “keep traditional marriage at its core.”

Her “hurtful” argument received lively replies from JoJo Siwa, Hilarie Burton and fellow “Full House” co-star Jodie Sweetin. Now Pintauro gets involved.

“I mean, it was horrific. It was one of the deepest moments of the journey I’ve had after coming out to Oprah,” he said of her interview. “And so it’s not surprising to me that she’s taking this stance on Christmas movies that she’ll be involved in.”

“She must have tons of people in her life who are LGBTQ+, at least from her past. And how she got to this place just worries me a little. It’s almost like she went backwards in a way,” he added.

The Post contacted representatives from Bure, Symoné and The View for comment.

Pintauro said he regrets appearing on The View and admitted he never told Bure she hurt his feelings.

“Because I made a conscious decision not to do anything with it,” he explained. “I am pleased to speak out now because years have passed and I have moved away from the position of HIV spokesperson.”

“I wanted to be able to just keep up that positive… love and light tour, that’s what I was aiming for. So the last thing I really wanted to do was just start talking cp about her. But maybe in hindsight… Well, no, she won’t care, will she?” asked Pintauro.

“I should have known when they told me it would only be Candace and Raven-Symoné. That’s it. None of them are very supportive,” he added.

The Fuller House actress, who served as the show’s conservative chairmanship from 2015 to 2016, has claimed she had “PTSD” from co-hosting the daytime talk show.

While Bure has seemingly made her stance on gay marriage clear, Symoné remarried her co-host wife Miranda Maday in June 2020.

In hindsight, Pintauro also blames the show’s producers for the awkward interview.

“I start having preliminary talks with the producers, like, ‘What are we talking about? And here are some stories and some ideas, and the producers have made it a little weird,” he said.
