“He’ll love it when I’m sexy, even with another guy”: Curse of Dancing On Ice won’t hit me, promises Love Island’s Ekin-Su

  • Ekin-Su Culculoglu, 28, insists their relationship will weather any temptations that may come their way as she takes part in the latest series of ITV’s Dancing on Ice
  • The reality star will spend weeks in close company with skater Brendyn Hatfield
  • The Dancing On Ice curse has claimed ties from Love Island’s Wes Nelson, Coronation Street’s Samia Longchambon and EastEnders star Matt Lapinskas

It’s a curse that becomes just as strong when celebrity couples break up as Strictly’s. But as Dancing On Ice’s new series begins, contestant Ekin-Su Culculoglu insists their relationship is more than tough enough to withstand any temptations that might come their way.

The reality star will spend weeks in the close company of handsome pro skater Brendyn Hatfield but says nothing will jeopardize her romance with boyfriend Davide Sanclimenti, which was forged when they won Love Island together last summer.

“I don’t believe in the curse,” said the 28-year-old. “It only happens when a relationship has already broken down – then if you have the chemistry with your partner, it will happen.

“If your relationship is solid, why should you be jealous? Trust is the key. My relationship is stronger than ever. Davide is more in love with me because I’m doing something I love.

“He loves Brendyn, he says he’s really strong. He comes to every show. I will thank Dancing On Ice – it has made my relationship that much stronger as it has given me something to engage in and that is an attractive quality.”

The security in her relationship with the 27-year-old Italian means Ekin-Su, who is of Turkish descent, will not relax her routines on the ice. She said: “My performance is pretty sexy. Davide will love that. He’s not jealous. He’ll sit and enjoy when I’m sexy, even if it’s with another guy. He’s like, ‘Wow, that’s my girl.’

Ekin-Su’s attitude will no doubt be music to 37-year-old Brendyn’s ears as he is happily married to fellow professional ice dancer Jessica Hatfield.

The Dancing On Ice curse has previously claimed the relationships of Love Island’s Wes Nelson, Coronation Street actress Samia Longchambon and EastEnders star Matt Lapinskas.

Ekin-Su’s performance in tonight’s episode was questionable as she battled a fever, but last night she released a video from the back of a taxi telling fans, “Heading to practice. Get up again and don’t give up just because I’m sick. Come tomorrow.’

She also suffered from the physical demands of rehearsing for the show, saying, “I get a lot more body aches. I feel like I’m in a boxing match. When I get home I say to Davide: “Can you put the Epsom bath salts in it? It’s going to hurt, it’s going to be sore.’

The new series, which starts tonight at 6.30am on ITV1, also features former EastEnder Patsy Palmer and ex-footballer John Fashanu.
