Havana, 25 January (EFE).- This Wednesday, the Cuban government expressed great satisfaction with the results of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) summit, both in terms of the island and in terms of regional integration .

It was an “excellent”, “proactive” and “very promising” summit of “revitalization” and “unity in diversity,” assured Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez in statements to the official Cuban media.

According to the official newspaper, the foreign minister welcomed the fact that the final statement condemned the US blockade (embargo) on his country and its inclusion on Washington’s list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

Referring to the region, Rodríguez highlighted that the meeting in Buenos Aires served to strengthen the revitalization of the bloc, a process initiated during Celac’s Mexican presidency.

“Currently there is a favorable political environment in the region” for integration and cooperation, said the minister.

Rodríguez attended the Celac summit alongside Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, whose presence was criticized by some sectors denouncing human rights abuses on the island.

Argentine President Alberto Fernández met with Díaz-Canel this Wednesday and stressed that the common goal of both countries is to “deepen ties” and “work towards greater integration” in the region. EFE
