Creation of the CHU de Québec: a big ball to reinvent the hospital

CHU de Québec Foundation flagship event, the ball of the great romantics Planned for March at the Videotron Center, will bring together hundreds of donors willing to contribute to the acquisition of high-tech equipment, humanizing care and funding research to “support the CHU de Québec-Université Laval ( CHU) and help him in this “to reinvent oneself”.

The foundation offers the CHU de Québec – Université Laval the “plus” that makes the difference. “The foundation finances the latest generation of high-tech devices that are available on the market, but which the ministry will not fund. Like surgical robots that ensure surgeries are less invasive and faster, there are fewer infections and people stay in hospital for shorter periods,” says Marie-Claude Paré, President of the CHU de Québec Foundation.

This added value also promotes the humanization of care, since thanks to the financial support of the Foundation, massages are offered to people at the end of life, animal therapy comforts patients who need it and various programs facilitate the stay in the hospital and facilitate the return home.

In addition, through seed grants, the Foundation enables researchers to start new research and continue to advance it by seeking other sources of funding, thus achieving new medical advances.

The foundation also participates in the realization of the largest project in the field of social health, the new hospital complex, which aims to become a reference center for several specialties.

“The Romantics Grand Ball is raising funds for all of the CHU de Québec – Laval University Hospitals (Hôtel-Dieu de Québec, Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus, Hôpital du Saint-Sacrement, Hôpital Saint-François d’Assise, CHUL) all its causes and all its great projects. By helping it become a high-tech university hospital, the Foundation is helping to reinvent the hospital,” stresses Ms. Paré.

During its 25th edition in 2019, the event raised $650,000, bringing the total for the past 25 years to nearly $7 million. A sum fully invested in Quebec, intended for patients in Quebec and the east of the province, for the health and well-being of our community and future generations, since 100% of the donations stay here.

This year, the Great Romantics Ball, presented by Quebecor, will be held at the Videotron Center on Friday, March 17th, under the Honorary Presidency of Mr. Guy Cormier, President and Chief Executive Officer of Desjardins.

For this magnificent face-to-face return after three years of absence, the event offers an evolving formula that will encourage real encounters.

The evening, hosted by Guylaine Tremblay, promises a gourmet meal, testimonials, a tribute to CHU staff, many of whom will be in attendance, dancing, networking and a presentation of the hospitals supported by the foundation and the new hospital complex.
